Recently, it was learned from Xi'an city administration that since 2011, the greening area of Xi'an roof has increased by 100000 square meters every year. At present, 475 three-dimensional greening areas have been implemented, and the area of "sky garden" has exceeded 1 million square meters.
According to reports, "sky garden" is a natural temperature regulator, roof vegetation in summer can block heat, in winter can be insulation for the building. Not only that, roof greening can also reduce the damage of UV and rain on buildings, which is conducive to prolonging the life of buildings, softening the urban rigid architectural landscape, increasing the urban green area at a lower cost, and beautifying the urban space.
Xi'an municipal government provides financial support for promoting roof greening. At present, Xi'an roof greening subsidy is divided into three categories: garden type subsidy of 285 yuan per square meter, combined type subsidy of 220 yuan per square meter, lawn type subsidy of 180 yuan per square meter. According to the requirements of the municipal government, on the premise of meeting the building specifications and building safety requirements, the green roof shall be implemented for the newly-built and reconstructed buildings with the number of floors less than 12 and the height less than 10 meters, and for the existing buildings with the completion time not more than 20 years and the top slope less than 15 degrees.
